Real TiVo Market Research Questions
A few weeks ago I had taken a survey for TiVo because apparently I have that much to do in my spare time. What follows was copied verbatim from the actual survey. Sometimes you hear people say the phrase “there are no stupid questions,” but I honestly haven’t the slightest idea as to how this would help the folks out at TiVo.
Every so often, we like to find out what kind of a role TiVo plays in our subscribers’ lives by asking some really tough questions. We’d like to know: Which of the following things would you give up before you would give up TiVo?
Home computer
- N/A - I don’t have a home computer
- I would give up my home computer and keep TiVo
- I would give up TiVo and keep my home computer
DVD player
- N/A - I don’t have a DVD player
- I would give up my DVD player and keep TiVo
- I would give up TiVo and keep my DVD player
Mobile phone
- N/A - I don’t have a mobile phone
- I would give up my mobile phone and keep TiVo
- I would give up TiVo and keep my mobile phone
Video game console
- N/A - I don’t have a video game console
- I would give up my video game console and keep TiVo
- I would give up TiVo and keep my video game console
The Internet
- N/A - I don’t use the Internet [note: this was an online survey]
- I would give up using the Internet and keep TiVo
- I would give up TiVo and keep using the Internet
And now, some REALLY hard choices…
Microwave oven

Car

My spouse/partner

I suppose that last set is really dependent upon your previous answers. But riddle me this. How could life get any worse if you gave up all of these things just so you can watch every episode of Law & Order without having to sit through the commercials? I don’t know. I do know that I will definitely be filling out every TiVo survey I’m asked to do from here on out so long as they’re as entertaining as this one was.
